Sekyere Kumawu District Hospital: a core network built to keep running

Working alongside the subcontractor's team, we installed and configured the servers, workstations, nurse call, Wi-Fi and PA systems at the district hospital in Kumawu.

Fibre from each block lands on the core switch, every run labelled so faults are found in minutes.

The challenge

Everything in a hospital's IT meets in one place: the core network room. If it fails, records, phones, Wi-Fi and nurse call can fail with it. So the core has to be secure, cool, on backup power and tidy enough that an engineer can find a fault quickly, even in the middle of the night.

What we did

  • Installed and configured the servers, with core switching and UPS power in a locked cabinet.
  • Connected the fibre from each block to the core switch, with every run labelled.
  • Set up workstations for clinical and administrative staff.
  • Installed the nurse call system across the wards.
  • Configured Wi-Fi coverage, and the public address and call systems.

The result

The hospital's systems were delivered in service, the same scope as at Adansi North District Hospital. Labelled fibre and a tidy, locked core room mean faults can be traced quickly and only authorised staff can reach the equipment.
